Dr. Jeffrey Shum MD, FRCSC, FACS

Dr. Jeffrey Shum MD is a General Surgeon with sub-specialty training in liver, pancreas and biliary tract diseases. His primary focus is the treatment of cancers that affect these organs in collaboration with other specialists and oncologists at the Northeastern Regional Cancer Centre. He has expertise in laparoscopic liver resections and pancreatic surgery including the Whipple operation.
Dr. Shum has treated many patients with complicated gallstone disease and performs over 100 cholecystectomies a year. He has advanced endoscopic training in ERCP and he has experience with rendezvous procedures, accessing the remnant stomach post Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery and laparoscopically exploring the common bile duct.
Dr. Shum is also an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) physician and is part of the team that cares for critically ill patients in the hospital.
He has trained and worked all over Canada and is currently on staff at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario. He is an Assistant Professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and also the Site Director for the Residency Training program in Sudbury.
